Subway To Rail Train Stations are Stations placed on subway lines and next to Rail Lines. They let people pass from train to subway, subway to train and train or subway to ground (ie zones, etc). So why build them instead of railroad stations?
1) They look cooler
2) They take up less space than railroads, if you use the 14x14 blocking method you can put them in place of a park if you have a railroad along one side. Also, in cramped cities, you can save valuable zoning space.
3) They put your subways to use without having to use many subway stations. They cost the same as a subway or rail station, but serve as both. They can also allieviate some of the congestion on a railroad by encouraging people to use the subway system.
4) They are compatible with industrial zones, whereas subway stations don’t seem to work. (See Why Not to Put Subway Stations in Industrial)
5) You can lay out a good subway system without paying much annual cost at all.
