Often, when you population reaches a level of about 300,000, you may notice that your commerce demands highway connections. They are not exactly demanding highway connections, rather they are demanding more connections to neighbors. The best way to do this without wasting space with useless, ugly highways is to build subway connections to all of your neighbors. Even if you only have a few subway stations, your subway connections can create the same amount of commercial traffic as highway space, and if you’re not short on cash, they are better because they do not waste space and lower land values.
