Ideas for the “Simnation” idea
-Suburbs, cities, country...States and nations (and counties or parishes)
Transportation ideas
-Roads and highways of varying widths (one way, 2 lane...highway, 5 lanes each way)
-More versatile highway interchanges (ie. you can make them curve, make cloverleafs, make flyovers etc.)
-highways, roads and rails can go into tunnels without going thru a hill (like the Pru tunnel in Boston, or UN building tunnel in NYC)
-Curvy Roads
-Bridges that diagonally cross rivers.
-Road over rail bridges, and vica versa.
-Speed limits (which YOU SET with help from you advisor...you can even create speed traps, but these might anger the sims!)
-High speed intercity rail...increases commerce.
-MONORAIL
-Bus only roads
-Pedestrian walkways
-Different railroad stations:
-Central station (5x5) as a reward for .5 million. put across existing track
-Large stations (2x2) put across existing track, platform extends down track (dont take up extra space)
-Small stations (1x1)put across existing track, platform extends down track. These would not be on their own tiles and would not take up extra space.
All of the train stations would be equally accessable from both sides.
The Central and Large stations could automatically serve as subway or bus stations as well, for an extra fee.
- Bus stations:
-Main bus depot (again, a reward)
-Bus stops. 1x1, on existing road (dont take up extra space)
- Light rail, above ground subway
- Highway above ground, on ground, depressed
- Traffic lights
- Realistic Railroad Curves (Not as tight)
- Ferries
- Options of bridge types, like in SimCity2000.
Zoning Ideas
- No more tiles, you decide where to zone...buildings will be many shapes ...rectangle plots, rhombus plots, curved plots (along curvy roads), but municipal bldgs would still be square or rectangular.
- Multizone zones ie. residential/commercial, commercial/industrial. either can develop. A residential/farm zone, where residential homes or farms could spring up.
Land form Ideas
- More city shapes (NO MORE SQUARES)
- Zoning/building on hills (terracing if necessary).
- Rivers with waterfalls, you build dams, locks, HYDROELECTRICITY
New Feature Ideas
- Closer zooms
- You can drive/walk/ take public transport/talk to people/walk into buildings.**
- Trees Grow
- Construction visible...you see each phase.**
- Abandoned buildings aren't so bad looking at first, butthe deteriorate as they are abandoned longer (first the paint peels, then the windows break, then it rusts, etc.)**
- Federal governmentt buildings as rewards.
- Option that automatically replace aging Power plants, water pumps, etc.
**We realize that these ideas would require very fast processors. We would not want it to slow down the game. So, these might have to wait for a while.
Ideas for municipal services
- Municipal buildings of different sizes...the larger the building, the larger its effect.
- Privitization of schools, hospitals, transit, etc. (Saves the city money, but might anger the residents)
- Outpatient healthcare services (clinics)
- Schools: k-5, 6-8, 9-12
- Private colleges (can create $$$, if you get a good one)
Ideas for buildings
- MANY more buildings ( so you dont have 2,397 ice cream shops in a city with 100,000 people)
- Same kinds of should buildings look different. So all the subway stops wont look exactly alike.
Budget/Money ideas
- Money from:
-pollution/environmental fines
-tolls (highways, bridges)
-traffic fines
-parking meters
-grants for schools, colleges, healthcare
- Parades, circuses, Movie filming, sporting events (all star game, ryder cup, olympics), etc. bring in $$$.
- Natural phenomena...parks...tourism...$$$
- Money from expositions that you'd have to attract
New Commerce/Industries
- New industry: Logging
- Malls in commercial
- HOTELS
Terrain Editor/Building Architect
- TERRAIN EDITOR
- Building architect
Government subsidized Buildings
- Partial public funding for stadiums for many sports teams.
- Gov't sponsored commercial developments
